Physical activity also helps to prevent and manage many medical conditions including:
The national recommendations for physical activity are:
Adults - aim to achieve at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity at least 5 days a week.
Children and Young People - aim to achieve at least 60 minutes of moderate intensity activity, 7 days a week.
You don't have to do the whole 30 - 60 minutes in one go. The activity can be accumulated throughout the day, in 10 - 15 minute bouts.
Did you know.......there are 1,440 minutes in each day?
Find 30 minutes of them to do a little activity. 30 minutes of walking is only 2% of your day!
Moderate intensity activities are activites that make you feel warm and slightly out of breath, like brisk walking, gardening, swimming and dancing.
We know we should be physically active but sometimes it can be difficult to get motivated.
Many people feel that you have to be sporty to be active. 'active bromley' is not about spending hours in the gym or running a marathon. It is a programme of activites and events to encourage and motivate people of all ages and abilities to become more physically active.
Activities will run throughout the year and include family fun days, aerobathons, strictly dancing programmes and much more. Keep an eye on our event section for more details.
We aim to provide something for everyone, so whatever your current activity level 'active bromley' can help.
