Active Lifestyles Studio Launched

26 September 2006

A brand new exercise and fitness studio was officially opened at West Wickham Leisure Centre on Friday 21 September. The new studio means a much wider range of classes and group exercise designed to give local residents easy access to an active lifestyle that meets their needs.

Classes now include a range of Body Training Systems to music including Body Combat and Body Pump. More relaxing sessions are also offered in yoga and pilates. Some classes combine with the swimming pool for aqua aerobics which is popular for mature residents adopting a healthier lifestyle. West Wickham’s active lifestyle experts are also on hand to advise on taking the first steps to health for the very inactive, or for those referred through their GP.

Complementing the new studio is a recently improved and extended gym which now has Sky TV, aircon, and many more exercise stations to meet increasing demand at this popular centre.

Councillor Neil Reddin, Portfolio Holder for Resources, “I’m delighted that the partnership between the Council and Bromley Mytime is delivering improvements to local leisure services. This new studio will enable more people than ever to benefit from an active lifestyle, and I am pleased that all ages and abilities are catered for. I look forward to seeing many more improvements through our successful partnership in future.”

Dennis Barkway, CBE, Chairman of Bromley Mytime said,” These improvements will bring this popular centre right up to date, and see more people than ever getting the active lifestyle habit. This is the fourth major launch of new services this year and reflects the Council’s and our commitment to improving leisure services for all residents.”
