ArtsTrain is a year-long programme in Bromley with three training levels or ‘Platforms’. The project has been developed by Bromley Mytime and has received funding from Arts Council England. Other partners for the project include LBB Youth Service, Marjorie McClure school, Broomleigh Housing and the Bromley Education Business Partnership.
Involves weekly ‘drop in’ music technology workshops over 3 terms at 3 Bromley centres: JusB Youth Centre, College Road, Bromley North, Marjorie McClure Special School in Chislehurst, and The Link Youth Centre, St. Paul’s Cray. Both the JusB and the Link Youth Centre sessions are open to any young people aged 11+ and are beginning now! JusB sessions take place on a Tuesday night 5.30pm – 7.00pm (years 9-13) and Fri night 5.30pm – 7pm (years 7-8) and are already running. The Link sessions (years 7+) will take place on a Tuesday night from 7.00 -9.00pm from 23rd September.
Will offer OCN (external link)(Open College Network) accredited training modules in a range of music technology and arts options at 6 centres in Bromley - venues to be confirmed but will include a range of school and youth centre providers. The courses will be selected by young people after a consultation process in November/December and taster events to recruit during that time. The courses themselves will run over the period of February 2009– June 2009
Will offer bespoke tutor training to build capacity within the borough – an OCN in ‘Workshop Skills’ for any local tutors or youth workers delivering on this programme and a ‘music and movement’ Dalcroze based training course for Mytime employees. (Dalcroze is an established methodology for developing music and movement skills especially when used in working in early years contexts).
