Local charity Bromley Mytime is training local young people for leisure careers with 2012 in mind. The “F. C. Leisure” course offers 16/17 year olds all the practical skills and qualification to work within leisure and sports centres. The one year course is being run at Orpington College in partnership with Mytime and the London Leisure College. The course includes customer services, health and safety, first aid, life guarding, sports leadership and management of courses and includes practical centre based sessions.
This year’s intake of 13 students should be ready for casual work early in the spring and full time employment during the summer when they graduate.
Meeting the students recently at the Pavilion Leisure Centre in Bromley, Mytime’s Chairman Dennis Barkway said, “It’s good to see such enthusiasm from the young students for developing their leisure careers. We hope many of them will graduate into work with Mytime, and could then go on to achieve further success both within Bromley and beyond, as the demand for skills increases towards 2012. FCLeisure is great for developing their confidence and skills and gives them a good kit bag of skills for the future!”
