Marvel of Multi Sensory Garden at Blenheim Primary School, Bromley

25 July 2005

A range of different media was explored to create this beautiful, colourful, texture rich and vibrant artwork. A wall was transformed into mural with jewel like mosaic panels, painted tiles and clay relief’s of various animals all made by the children. Telegraph poles have been adorned with a fabulous array of 3D collages, including bottle tops, wound rope and recycled objects making the garden vibrant and exciting.

The project’s aim was to encourage pupils to explore visual, tactile and audio experiences. A collection of plants and herbs will also be planted and pupils will be able to taste and smell to enhance the multi sensory experience of the garden.

“The project was received with fantastic enthusiasm by pupils, parents and staff and everyone involved has worked very hard to create a unique and exciting environment that will continue to inspire young children at Blenheim Primary School” Clare Haward, Arts Development Officer, Bromley Mytime.

The official launch took place on Thursday 7th July 2005 attended by the schemes funders; Bromley Children’s Project and Bromley Adult Education Family Learning Fund, and support from Liz Laws, Early Years Co-ordinator at Blenheim Primary School, Neil Hay, Janice Chan, Blenheim Children’s Centre Manager and Clare Haward, Arts Development Officer, and Brian Turpin, Head of Partnerships from Bromley Mytime.
