The Spa at Beckenham - changing for the better!

Following consultation with you, our customers, the Spa is changing for the better with a £1m improvement programme!
Work will start in the autumn and by next spring you will benefit from…
- A fitter and stronger you with easier access to a wider range of equipment including the latest Lifefitness ™ machines in our bigger and better active lifestyle gym featuring new exercise stations and a dedicated spin studio.
- A more relaxed and supple you with more programmes than ever to choose from in our new and improved exercise studios with sprung floors, mood enhanced lighting and integrated sound systems.
- A more refreshed you with our improved gym changing rooms, and showers after your visit
- A cooler you with our new air conditioning and ventilation systems in the gym and studios
- A less hassled you with the new Buzz Zone to entertain the kids – whilst you enjoy a light snack or meal in our Flavours café (and saving you the hassle of home entertaining for their parties!)
- A more relaxed you as we look after your toddlers in our new ground floor creche
- A healthier you as we support your health care programme with our experts in our confidential consultation and treatment rooms
Creating more opportunities for you, your family, serving all the community including people with special needs
The improvements to the Spa are planned to enable more customers than ever to discover the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle, no matter what their age or ability. Disruption will be minimised as the Sports Hall is re-shaped and most of the Spa will be open as usual during the works from September 2007 to March 2008. Swimming will remain unaffected throughout. Thanks to those groups who have agreed to re-locate to our excellent Cator Park centre, and free up their space for the benefit of more people than ever getting the active lifestyle habit.

The plans include:
- Converting half of our Sports Hall into space that will be used by a greater number of people.
- Building new Group Exercise Studios with a suitable floor covering, air conditioning etc allowing us to improve the range of classes and activities we provide to meet the needs of a wider range of people.
- Extending the space dedicated to the Fitness Gym extending the range and quantity of Fitness Equipment and fitness services we can provide.
- To have a dedicated space for Group Cycling.
- Improving our current Creche on the ground floor
- Refurbish the Gym changing rooms on the lower level.
- Expand the Space Zone soft play centre and create more space for parents and birthday parties. (This will unfortunately mean the loss of our 2 Squash Courts).
- Increasing the number of car park spaces
What will happen during the building works?
The building will remain open and all programmes running with the exception of activities which take place in the Sports Hall. Most activities will relocate to Cator Park School or other Bromley Mytime facilities.
- Swimming and other activities in both pools will continue as normal
- There may be some disruption at times in the gym when we move into the new area although we will minimise this as much as possible.
- There will be some minor changes to the Group Exercise timetable to accommodate as many of our classes as possible at the Spa. We will transfer two classes only to the new Studio at Cator Park School.
- The Sports Hall will close temporarily. Most “after school” and evening activities will be transferred to Cator Park School. Arrangements are being finalised at present. When the Hall re-opens after the works have been completed it will be half of the existing size.
- The Squash Courts will close permanently and league players will be encouraged to join the League at The Pavilion Leisure Centre in Bromley or The Walnuts Leisure Centre in Orpington.
Space Zone will close whilst the new Soft Play frame and activity space is built.
