Sports Development

Bromley Mytime Sports Development Team provides and promotes opportunities for participation in sport and physical activity.

The Sports Development Team works in partnership with over 40 agencies and consequently can adopt a dynamic approach towards:-

  • increasing levels of participation in sport and physical activity
  • encouraging the development of excellence
  • creating and improving healthy lifestyles for all who live, work or go to school in the Borough.

 The target groups include:

Young People (up to 19 years)

Quality coaching is provided as part of the schools coaching service, which assists schools to fulfill the national curriculum requirements for PE. Primary, secondary and special schools are offered curricular and/or extra curricular sports coaching. For more information, go to our schools page or call the schools  booking line on 020 8323 1764.

To provide children and young people with competitive opportunities, we organise teams for the London Youth Games, Mini Games and the Mini Marathon.

People with a disability

No Limits scheme

People who are physically inactive

We have worked in partnership with Bromley Primary Care Trust since 1993 to develop and deliver the Active Lifestyle Referral Schemes.

Older People

We continue to work to investigate opportunities for older people to access physical activities across the Borough. For further details of activities that are taking place across Bromley Mytime venues go to our Primetime page.

In addition to working with target groups we also ensure appropriate advice and information is accessible to sports providers to enhance the quality and quantity of services and facilities throughout the Borough.

To this end the Sports Development Team:-

  • Supports Sport Bromley, an independent body established over 10 years ago to represent voluntary sports clubs across the Borough and to raise key sporting issues with the Council.
  • Works with sports specific steering groups, which meet regularly to develop, monitor and review their specific development plans.
  • Gives advice on the basics principles when applying for grants for sporting activities.

We support the local Communtiy Sport and Physical Activity Network, (external link)Pro-Active Bromley.

We also work in partnership with national and local partners, including Governing Bodies of Sport and local sports clubs to coordinate the provision of quality coaching and competition at all levels. Click here for more information on junior sports clubs in Bromley.
