Mytime Academy - Lessons

Learn to swim

Bromley Mytime offers swimming lessons for all ages and abilities across our swimming pools.

Heres a handy guide to our childrens swimming lesson programme:

  • Parent & Baby - This course will introduce babies aged 3 to 18 months to the exciting world of swimming.  The course builds water confidence for the baby and is a great opportunity for parents and carers to have a great new exploratory experience with their child.
  • Parent & Child - Children aged 18 months to 3 years old will build water confidence during this course supported by their parent or carer.
  • Pre-school - Children aged 3 - 5 years old will learn water confidence and be introduced to basic swimming skills through constructive teaching and play.
  • Non-swimmers - Children aged 5 years and older will develop water skills and basic swimming strokes during this course.
  • Preliminary - Children aged 5 years and older who can swim on their front & back will enhance and build their swimming skills including sculling.
  • Elementary - Participants must be able to swim 10 metres on their front & back and have basic breaststroke skills. The course will build confidence in deep water and develop breathing techniques.
  • Intermediate - Participants must be able to competently swim 25 metres. The course will further develop stroke technique, breathing and introduce timing.
  • Advanced 1 - Participants must be able to competently swim 50 metres in deep water. Swimming skills are further developed, tumble turns and the butterfly techniques are introduced.
  • Advanced 2 - Participants must be able to competently swim 100 metres using a combination of all three strokes, front, back and breaststroke. The course will further enhance skills and progress with the butterfly technique.
  • Advanced 3 - Participants must be able to competently swim 400 metres. Advanced competitive skills including racing starts for the three main strokes are introduced in this course that will prepare swimmers for senior swimming clubs.
  • Advanced 4 - Participants must be able to competently swim 800 metres. The course will continue to develop skills and stamina.
  • Mile Club - Participants must be able to competently swim 800 metres. The course will continue to develop skills and stamina.
  • Rookie Lifeguard - A water skills foundation programme designed to bring out the fun and excitement in Lifesaving.
